The number two ranking for the South Florida Bulls did not last very long. Neither did the South Florida Bulls undefeated season. After watching the game in Atlantic City, NJ with a ton of Rutgers fans, it was a tough game to watch. The fake punt, the fake field goal, the touchdown that was taken away, and the pass interference call at the end of the game.

But looking back that is not what was the most disappointing part of the game. The most disappointing part was that we did not deserve to win. Rutgers wanted it more. Their players, their coaching staff, even their fans.

Maybe we could have won the game, but the truth is preparation beat talent.

South Florida plays the way they are capable of they win easy. They didn’t. A. Jackson dropped passes, Ben Williams dropped passes, Grothe held the ball too long, we never established the run, and the play calling was bad. I couldn’t believe we didn’t throw any quick slants or screen passes after watching the pressure from Rutgers.

Maybe the coaches can learn from watching Ray Rice pound the ball and wear down a defense. I would love to see a USF running back to that in a big game. I think the loss of Walter Walker made a difference in the play calling.  Grothe was asked to do to a little too much. If it wasn’t for a pass interference call he might have been able to pull it off. Instead, we wait for next week vs. U Conn.
